If the hourly messages are not forthcoming, this could be an indication that the meter has been bypassed. In this case a notification will be sent, and a physical verification of the meter could be performed. If it is found that the meter has been by-passed, they meter can be switched off.

Offset
To deal with energy shortages and load-shedding, many organizations such as Property Developers, Body Corporate and Homeowners Associations have decided to generate alternative energy. Where the customer owns and operates a generating device, which is operated in parallel with the grid. The customer gets a credit on the electricity bill for surplus energy produced and not consumed immediately. This energy gets feed into the grid.
A single bidirectional meter is required to measure both the usage and any exported energy. The WeBill Smart Prepaid Electrical Meter is a bidirectional meter and supports this requirement.
Wheeling
Where energy is generated to on-sell to organisations. Wheeling is not allowed for generators and loads connected at low voltage. Generators can nominate more than one buyer, but Eskom may reserve the right to limit the number.

The need for landlords to be able to provide affordable prepaid solutions to students is critical. The WeBill prepaid metering solution addresses this requirement, where each student is responsible for their own consumption and payment thereof, ensuring that the landlord gets fully reimbursed. Where students share accommodation, the WeBill Solution supports the allocation of one or more consumers (students) to one meter. This ensures that each student associated to the meter pays the correct amount for their consumption.
The WeBill prepaid solution works on a wallet-based system, where students can top-up their accounts using their mobile devices. There is no longer a need to buy physical tokens, eliminating the risk of losses and fraud. Students top-up their accounts and as they consume the balance on their account diminishes. If there is no money in their account, the meter turns off and consumption is stopped.

Dissemination of Consumer Information
Consumers have real-time access to their consumption and spend information. With this information consumers can modify their consumption behaviour to ensure the most cost-effective use of their utilities. The consumer can use more and pay less, just by effectively managing utility consumption behaviour.
Money Management
WeBill has replaced the token system with the Wallet system. The consumer has their own unique wallet account, into which money is paid. The consumer can top-up their wallet, wherever and whenever using the Consumer App, either by making a credit card payment or by EFT. As consumption happens the monetary balance decreases. When a predetermined threshold is reached, a notification is sent to advise the consumer to top-up. No more running out of credit.
